Arc Flash Hazard Analysis
Aura Engineering has an experienced staff of licensed professional engineers who can perform an Arc Flash Hazard Study to help keep your employees safe. Aura uses state of the art software created by EASYPOWER® to determine the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) an individual needs to work on electrical equipment in your facility.
What is an Arc Flash?
An Arc Flash is the result of a rapid release of energy caused by the accidental contact between energized electrical conductors. Contact can be caused by dropping a tool inside equipment or inadvertently touching two conductors together. This massive energy discharge burns the equipment bus bars and can vaporize the copper bus causing an explosion that can be deadly if personnel are not properly protected.
Why perform an Arc Flash Hazard Analysis?
Personnel safety is the most important reason to perform an Arc Flash Hazard Analysis. Another reason is that it is required by OSHA and the NFPA. Companies can be cited and even fined for not complying with these standards. In recent years, plan reviewers for counties, cities, and states have been taking special note of the electrical safety elements associated with equipment fault currents and Arc Flash Hazards.
