Scio, Ohio – Automated Propane, Butane, and Natural Gasoline Loading Facility

The Utica project called for designing an automated propane, butane, and natural gasoline loading facility with metering capabilities in Scio, Ohio. This facility is capable of loading eight (8) propane railcars, four (4) butane railcars, four (4) natural gasoline railcars, along with two (2) propane trucks simultaneously. The design flow rate to each railcar is 500 gallons per minute (gpm); the design flow rate to each truck is 250 gpm.

For this project, we provided our client with a complete design drawing package including: piping and instrumentation diagrams and piping and electrical drawings.  We also specified and purchased all equipment and instrumentation associated with our portion of the project. Our programming team designed the automation system with FMC Accuload, Schneider Electric’s terminal automation system (DTN), and the entire loading facility, including the pump controls.

During commissioning, we were on-site working with the electrical contractor throughout the loop checks of the electrical components, for the start-up of the pumps, and the first railcar load.
